Cooktop Repair FAQ
On coil cooktops, the element itself, its receptacle or a burnt terminal often fails. On glass radiant tops, the element under the glass or the infinite switch that controls it is the usual cause. If several elements stop at once, a wiring or control fault is more likely. We test each part with a meter to pinpoint the failure.
An element stuck on full power almost always means the infinite switch controlling it has failed, or on electronic models a relay on the control board has stuck closed. This is a safety concern, so switch the cooktop off at the breaker if it will not turn off and book a repair right away.
On many models, yes. The glass top is often available as a replacement part, and we check the elements and wiring underneath at the same time. Stop using a cracked cooktop, because spills can reach electrical parts and the glass can break further as it heats and cools.
No. We service electric coil, glass radiant and induction cooktops only — we don’t work on gas appliances. If you have a gas cooktop, please contact a licensed gas technician. For electric and induction models, our technician will test and replace the faulty part.
Induction cooktops report faults through codes, such as overheating, a failed cooling fan, a power board problem or a cookware detection issue. The meaning depends on the brand and model. We read the code, test the coil, power board and fan, and explain exactly what needs repair before starting.
Induction only works with magnetic cookware. If a magnet does not stick firmly to the bottom of the pan, it will not heat. Pans that are too small for the zone or badly warped may also be ignored. If proper cookware still is not detected, a coil or control fault may need repair.
First check that the control lock is off and wipe the panel dry, since water or grease can confuse touch sensors. If the controls still do not respond, the touch panel, ribbon cable or control board may have failed. We test the controls on site and replace only the faulty component.
Yes. Every cooktop repair comes with a warranty on parts and labour. We use genuine OEM or quality equivalent parts, give you a clear quote before work begins, and the service call is free when you go ahead with the repair. We are open 7 days a week.

Cooktop Repair for Every Electric Type
An element that will not heat, a coil that stays red-hot after you switch it off or a touch panel that ignores every press can stop dinner in its tracks. FIXSAVE repairs electric coil, glass and ceramic radiant, and induction cooktops, including the cooktop on freestanding and slide-in ranges, in homes across Winnipeg and nearby communities. Our certified, insured technicians diagnose the problem on site and give you a clear quote first.
What our cooktop technicians check
On coil and radiant cooktops we test the surface elements, the infinite switches that control heat levels, the terminal blocks and the wiring. An element that stays on at full power usually points to a failed switch or a stuck relay on the control board. On glass tops with touch controls we check the keypad, the control board and the hot-surface indicator. If a spill has reached the controls, we check for moisture damage and replace any failed switch or keypad.
Induction and cracked glass
Induction cooktops use power boards, coils and cooling fans, and they display error codes when something goes wrong. We read those codes and test each component before recommending a repair. A cracked glass surface should not be used, since spills can reach live parts. We can replace the glass top on many models and check the elements underneath at the same time.
